Artisan made lampwork beads & jewelry by Donna Conklin
I recently did a show in Pasadena (the Pasadena Bead & Design show), it was kinda slow one day so I found a new (and portable) hobby... needle felting! This is how it's done, you take wool fiber and lay them across a brush or foam board, take this little device with barbed needles and start poking away. The little barbs "tangle" the wool fibers and you end up with a "needle felted" piece of, well... felt :) I go one step further and toss it in the washer (a cheater way of wet felting) which really gives it some substance and looks more like felt when it's done. So here's a messenger type bag I made with piece of my needle felting:
The bag measures 14"x14" w/a 1 1/2" gusset and an adjustable shoulder strap 24"-47". I tested it out and it will fit a 1" binder notebook and some extras. I love it... :)
